What's a cookie?

A "cookie" is a piece of information that is stored on your computer's hard drive and which records how you move your way around a website so that, when you revisit that website, it can present tailored options based on the information stored about your last visit. How do we use cookies?

We use cookies to track your use of our website. This enables us to understand how you use the site and track any patterns with regards how you are using our website. This helps us to develop and improve our website as well as products and / or services in response to what you might need or want. We also use cookies and similar technologies, such as pixel tags to collect and store information when you interact with services from our partners, such as advertising services. Our third party advertisers include Google and Facebook/Instagram. We may also use another company to process credit/debit card purchases for our website. We may use the cookie information gathered by these companies. We do not use cookies to store personal data or link non-personal information stored in cookies with personal data about specific individuals.

We use Google Analytics to understand how our website visitors engage with our website, which pages they visit, how long they spend on different parts of our website and so on. Google Analytics also provides us with a summary of where our website visitors are geographically located. Data is aggregated and summarized - we do not use personal data about specific individuals. We use the FacebookTM Platform (which includes Instagram) to manage our social media content and to advertise to potential and existing clients with content that may be of interest to them. In some instances, we may upload your email address or any other details we have for you into Facebook to build custom audiences. This data is ‘hashed’ during upload to ensure that no personally identifiable information is stored. If you would like to request to opt out of Website Custom Audience Ads that My Small World Ltd may run, you may do so by emailing us at It is possible that you may still see ads from us on based on interest targeting information that Facebook has linked a Facebook User to. You can take further action to choose not to see ads from us or other advertisers, by changing your ad preferences. Please see below for instructions how to do that. If you are on our mailing list, you might still receive emails from us, as you have not indicated that you wish to be removed from our mailing list. Changing Facebook Ad Preferences

Here you will be able to see information on the Interests that Facebook has included you in, based upon your activity on Facebook (e.g. by engaging with certain Pages or ads). You can also click on Ad Settings and choose whether to allow Facebook to be served to you, either on Facebook’s platforms or on their Audience Network.For a more detailed view, if you click on Advertisers and Businesses, you can view any company that has uploaded a list and may be using lists on Facebook. For each company, you can View Controls to see if that company is using a list to show ads to you and/or using a list to exclude you from viewing ads. You have the option to allow or not allow for each company. 

You can also see advertisers whose website, app or store you’ve interacted with. If you place your cursor over a square, you’ll see an x in the top corner, which gives you the option to hide all ads from that particular advertiser. Similarly, you can see an advertisers who you have visited. By clicking the ‘More’ button, you can see advertisers whose ads that you have clicked on as well as those whose ads you have hidden.

If you want to stop Google tracking your searches go to the Google Activity Controls

Cookies are either: 

- Session cookies: these are only stored on your computer during your web session and are automatically deleted when you close your browser – they usually store an anonymous session ID allowing you to browse a website without having to log in to each page but they do not collect any personal data from your computer; or

- Persistent cookies: a persistent cookie is stored as a file on your computer and it remains there when you close your web browser. The cookie can be read by the website that created it when you visit that website again. We use persistent cookies for Google Analytics.

Without these cookies, the services available to you on our website cannot be provided. - Performance cookies: These cookies enable us to monitor and improve the performance of our website. For example, they allow us to count visits, identify traffic sources and see which parts of the site are most popular.

- Functionality cookies: These cookies allow our website to remember choices you make and provide enhanced features.
