You know that moment when your child crouches down in the garden, nose almost touching the ground, completely transfixed by something wriggling in the soil? This is the book for THAT child. Written by Richard 'Bugman' Jones (yes, that's his actual nickname, and yes, he has absolutely earned it), Buzz turns the creepy-crawlies your child already loves into a full-blown obsession... the good kind, where they're telling you fascinating things over dinner instead of just making you late for school.

We love it because:

  • Richard 'Bugman' Jones is a genuine entomologist who clearly loves bugs with his whole heart, and that enthusiasm leaps off every page
  • Sara Boccaccini Meadows' illustrations are genuinely gorgeous, the kind you want to frame, even if the subject is a dragonfly eating its lunch
  • It covers 15 bugs in real depth: camouflage, migration, compound eyes, survival strategies. This isn't surface-level stuff
  • It makes the natural world feel astonishing rather than scary, which is a gift for a curious child (and honestly, for the grown-ups too)
  • The cover alone will have children reaching for it off the shelf
