Children's Wizard Cape

There is something about a cape that just does it. One swish and they're gone, off into whatever world they've decided exists beyond the living room, muttering spells, saving things, being extremely important and busy. This one is crimson red with gold stars and moons, which is basically the Platonic ideal of a wizard cape, and the kind of thing they will want to wear to the supermarket. (Our advice: let them.)

We love it because:

• The hook and loop fastener at the neck means they can get it on and off themselves, which matters more than you'd think at the height of an imaginary battle.
• Cotton, polyester and nylon mix means it moves beautifully and swishes satisfyingly when they run, which is the whole point really.
• Machine washable at 30°C, because of course it is going to need washing.
• Works brilliantly for fancy dress but honestly needs no occasion whatsoever.
