Maps by Aleksandra Mizielinska and Daniel Mizielinski has become a childhood classic since it's publication in 2012, and is one of our favourite 'read and discover together' books of all time. The incredible illustrations and muted colour palette give a real flavour of maps of old, and we can imagine discovering new horizons in it's pages.
If you want to instill in your child a lust for travel, discovery and adventure then the Maps book is a fabulous starting point.
This is a glorious chunk of a book - 52 illustrated maps bound together in hardback, and perfect for resting across laps. It's big - slightly shy of A3 size - which gives lots of room to appreciate the highly detailed and beautiful illustrations. Each map details geographical features, it also includes political borders, places of interest, famous citizens, native animals and plants, culture and fascinating facts.
It's crammed with detail, but don't think for a second that this is just for older children. Maps is wonderfully accessible at every level, and preschoolers as young as 3 will happily sit and discover all the animals and people on each page, and can progress to more complex information when ready.
