Ruby's Walk To School!

September is a month full of tears and triumphs as children all
across the UK start school for the very, very first time. Some children
are more than ready for this big milestone, others are a little more
trepidatious, but generally it’s the parents who find it the toughest!
Here at My Small World we watch the members of our Book Club for
Nearly Schoolers head off towards the school gates, warm in the
knowledge that they’ll be well prepared – each month since May we’ve
chosen a different book on the subject of starting school, and linked a
fab activity – from drawing a map of our school walk, to pretending to
have the register taken and taking turns to be teacher, to drawing
around our bodies and colouring in our new school uniform. We asked
the children which book they’d like to hear again as their last story,
and they unanimously picked Ruby’s Walk to School – a story about a
little girl with a vivid imagination, embarking on her first journey to
school. We love it because very clearly being in a classroom doesn’t
dampen her creativity one little bit!

Taking part in our Book Club is so easy! Simply buy the book of the
month, or borrow it from the library, snuggle down with your child and
give it a good read, and then post your review as a reply to this blog,
or on our product page. Alternatively, you could buy a 6 month
membership to Book Club – we’ll send you the books out each month, free
of charge!
